Our parish seeks to develop a culture that is rooted in the sacramental life from which flows a dedication to the life of the parish as a whole. The Lord has granted a diversity of gifts for the building up of the church, and we seek to bring them to bear not only in the world but in the life of the parish, too. Presentation offers multiple opportunities to participate in the active life of the community, from teaching our children to housekeeping, maintaining church property to planning and throwing special events. These are organzied into guilds which serve not merely as a group with a common purpose, but also as a form of expressing a common spiritual demeanor. Each guild serves in its capacity as a unique expression of its members' love for God and the parish. Below, you will find a list of current ways our community is dedicating itself to God and one another.
ALTAR SERVERS GUILD
The role of all Altar servers is to assist the Priest in the celebration of the Mass. The Altar server guild consists of boys, ages 7 - 18, serving as boats, torchbearers, crucifers, and thurifers in the Mass. Adult men also serve as MCs and instituted Acolytes. Altar servers typically serve at least one Mass per month but often will serve multiple times per month as needed. There are two trainings per year that all servers are asked to attend as well. ST. MARTHA'S ALTAR GUILD
St. Martha’s Altar Guild is an organization of ladies formed to assist the clergy in the celebration of the sacraments. We prepare and maintain all the necessary items for Mass as well as other liturgical events. This includes care of the sacred vessels, altar linens, candles, vestments, flowers and seasonal items. We welcome volunteers with any level of time commitment, from seasonal (Advent, Triduum, etc) to a few hours monthly or weekly. Contact Heather Overmyer at [email protected]
USHER'S GUILD
Ushers at Presentation welcome and assist parishoners at each Mass every Sunday, and on holy days of obligation. Contact John Mier at [email protected].
LECTOR'S GUILD
The Lector Guild provides lectors for Sunday and weekday Masses. All lectors are trained according to parish standards and serve about once every two months. Lectors read the lesson from the Old Testament and the Epistle on Sundays, and on weekdays the first reading and psalm are read. The Guild is open to new members who wish to serve the Word of God. ST. ZITA'S CHURCH CLEANING GUILD
The St. Zita's guild is entrusted with the cleaning of our sacred church. Volunteers rotate cleaning on a fixed schedule alone, with a team, or as a family. All cleaning products are provided, just show up and clean in peace for His glory. Contact Sarah Mixon at [email protected].
HOSPITALITY GUILD
Hospitality volunteers work to create and maintain a welcoming atmosphere for members and visitors after each Sunday Mass. We maintain a coffee bar and hand out donuts while keeping the bar area tidy and stocked. This is a wonderful volunteer opportunity for both the socialite and the quiet mouse as we have many duties from which to choose. Contact Beth Stephenson at [email protected] .
MOWERS GUILD
The mission of the mowers guild is simple: to keep the Presentation property looking like a place properly set aside for the worship of God and nourishment of our community by mowing, trimming, and maintaining the grounds. We aim to keep the commitment of each volunteer to 3-4 hours once per month, having a rotation of teams with 3-5 people. We have our own easy to use commercial class mower that you'll be trained on, and teams generally bring their own trimmers. No fuss, no meetings - just a simple opportunity to serve. Contact Jeff Dziedzic at [email protected].
ST. JOSEPH'S BUILDERS GUILD
St. Joseph's Builder's Guild is a group of volunteers tasked with the small to medium sized repairs and improvement projects. We're organized in teams based on availability to volunteer and each team has a mix of both experienced and less-experienced volunteers, with skills in construction, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, painting, and general handy-man tasks. Please join our St. Joseph's Builders Guild if you have any experience in construction and are ready to literally help build up our parish. Contact Kevin Williams at [email protected].
CCD AND RELIGIOUS EDUCATION GUILD
Presentation proudly offers Levels 1, 2, and 3 of the Catechesis of the Good Shephard program, which covers ages 3-12, on Wednesday evenings and Sunday mornings. Students in 7th-12th grades are taught using didactical methods in the classroom on Sunday mornings.
